Erin Fourie makes a bid for ‘Idols’ top six

2011-08-26 00:00

IT’S all happening on Idols at the moment. First it was Freddie van Dango shooting his mouth off and getting his face handed back to him (bloated), and then it was Kelly Fortuin receiving the judges’ save on Tuesday night. That means that two contestants will be voted out this coming Sunday.

According to an eyewitness, “Freddie and one of his friends went and had words with the DJ. They [Van Dango and his friend] started screaming and shouting.”

At that point, another man, believed to be a “cage fighter”, apparently intervened. A fight broke out, and everyone involved was asked to leave, but the altercation continued in the street, leaving Van Dango with bad bruises and a broken cheekbone.

“Freddie and his friends picked a fight with the wrong people,” said the eyewitness.

And who said rock ‘n roll ain’t what it used to be?

As far as this Sunday goes, many locals will be releasing their thumbs rather than holding them as Erin Fourie makes a bid for the top six. She’s performing Put A Little Love In Your Heart, by Jackie DeShannon.

There’s lots of fanfare going on this Sunday, what with James Blunt performing, and a 50-piece choir backing the Idols contestants. This week’s theme is If you had a choir. The celebrity guest judge for this week’s “bigger-is-better” spectacular is none other than American R&B, jazz and gospel star, Chanté Moore.

Idols Season 7 is broadcast on M-Net and Mzansi Magic every Sunday at 17:30 pm.
