Eskom: be alert to sagging power lines

2013-01-15 00:00

ESKOM has warned the public to be careful of sagging powerlines.

In a statement yesterday, Eskom said recent heavy rains and adverse weather across the province had have softened the ground and caused poles to lean, resulting in some of powerlines sagging.

Eskom appealed to people not to touch powerlines and low-hanging conductors because they might be live and can cause harm to people and livestock.

Anyone who comes across sagging powerlines and low-hanging conductors should report them to Eskom’s Sharecall number, 08600 ESKOM or 08600 37566.
