Phumzile Cele and Thobeka Bhengu celebrate Human Rights Day in funky balloon hats and painted faces at a Fusion International Party in Alexandra Park on Saturday.

'We use sporting events and public holidays as a catalyst to bring communities - together. The product of these events is building social capital,' said Fusion International spokeswoman Claire Bankole. Children had fun playing games, dancing, having their faces painted and learning how to spin plates.

Mthoko Gumede (9) said: 'It was a very nice day and I will remember it for a long time. I made friends playing soccer and I got my face painted like a pirate.'

Nazeerah Kara, also aged nine, said: 'It is so much fun and I made new friends with nice people'.
