Evita adopts Juju lookalike, joins ANC

2012-04-03 00:00

EVITA Bezuidenhout has joined the ANC — “to keep them on the right path, of course”.

The well-known “tannie” made the announcement yesterday with fluttering eyelids in a striking designer dress of green, gold and black as she waved her ringed, hairy hand in the air.

“I’ve been watching them from the sidelines and it’s time I got involved and yanked our government out of their fantasy of liberation into reality.”

Speaking at the Johannesburg State Theatre, the legendary South African and self-appointed political critic said: “The ANC is mos our democratic government, after all, for the people, from the people. Which clearly does not like the people.”

From today Evita is also appearing in Adapt or Fly, the new show of “that third-rate comedian, Pieter-Dirk Uys”.

The show refers back to Adapt or Dye, the show of 30 years ago that was inspired by the “Groot Krokodil”, P.W. Botha.

She will also introduce her adopted baby, Johannes from Polokwane, Limpopo, to the community.

“Charlize Theron mos recently adopted a little Afro-American, after all. People say this little one of mine reminds them of someone, but I’m not sure who.” Her “baby” is the spitting image of expelled ANC youth leader Julius Malema.

Uys also commented that there are definite similarities in the political landscapes of today and 30 years ago.

He said the show demonstrated that politics repeated itself after 30 years. “It’s not the politics of black and white, but of a society — there are secrets, and laws, and the people are angry and poor.”

From 1975 until 1982 all his Afrikaans shows were banned, said Uys.

“But I was never arrested. Who could they arrest? Me or that Evita woman?”
