Experience a day in New York

2008-04-29 00:00

The Eeny Meeny Miny Mo Entertainment Company presents 24 Hrs on Broadway, a musical explosion of song and dance at the Kwasuka Cutting Edge Theatre from May 1 to May 18.

The excitement and awe of a businessman spending a day in New York wandering the streets and catching some shows comes to life in this production.

Darren King plays Ken Lawson, an English stage director and choreographer, who has an appointment with an American producer and theatre owner in New York. He has 24 hours to enjoy the city. King is joined by Kerry de Witt (vocalist for bands such as Gina peep and Butternut) who will provide the female narrative and vocals. The production is choreographed by Janine Bennewith, who will be leading the six cast members though the paces, including dancers Londiwe Dhlomo, Maxine Muir and Vusi Thabethe. Dean Bennewith directs.

The New York theme will extend to the foyer and gardens at the Kwasuka, and there will be café tables in the amphitheatre with hotdogs, burgers, soda, coffee and popcorn on sale to encourage patrons to enjoy a full evening of American-themed entertainment.

Shows are from Tuesday to Saturday at 7.30 pm and on Sunday at 3 pm. There are special Friday lunchtime shows at 12.45 pm and a Wednesday matinée at 2 pm. Tickets are R90 (R75 concessions). Inquiries and bookings: 031 202 8928.
