FET Murder: Suspect in court

2013-06-05 00:00

WHILE Rashmika Janthielayal’s body will be cremated today, her killer will be appearing in court.

The teenager, who was studying hairdressing at Umgungundlovu FET Northdale campus, was killed by a 19-year-old man believed to be her boyfriend, after an argument.

Rashmika (17) was stabbed several times on the stairway during break at the college and died on the scene.

The FET’s spokesperson Lynn Horan said they could not comment because the matter was in the hands of law enforcement.

Meanwhile, the campus’s Student Representative Council president Thulani Dlamini said they were still shocked about the incident.

The student body is planning on attending Rashmika’s funeral, which will be held at her home in Greytown.

The deceased’s family said they were not ready to talk to the media.

The alleged killer will appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court today.
