FRIENDS and family expressed their condolences on Facebook for the late Juran “Lorenzo” Raman who was allegedly stabbed in the neck at Café Vacca Matta at the Golden House Casino on Sunday.

A fan group called “RIP Juran Lorenzo Raman — beloved son, brother and friend”, which is believed to have been created by one of his peers, attracted more than 1 000 members yesterday.

Friends and even strangers wrote on the wall and expressed their affection for Raman and their sympathy with his family, while others avented their anger about his untimely death.

Nikita Perumal wrote, “… those murderers must die and rot in hell!”

Ernie Malherbe said, “Juran, what a good guy. I was lucky enough to play alongside this gentle giant on the cricket field. Can’t believe it buddy. Condolences to the Raman family, our thoughts and prayers are with you!!!!”

Another Facebooker, Ureka Sinanin, who claims to have not known Raman, wrote, “My deepest condolences to the grieving family. I did not know Juran, and hope that he is in a better place. My heart goes out to you and I hope that your murderers are made to pay, and that your family finds some peace and closure.”

He will be laid to rest today at the Mountain Rise Cemetery.

The first service will be at his home from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm, the second at JMR Church, Northdale, from 1 pm, followed by a procession to the cemetery.

The police are urging anyone with information to come forward. If you know anything or were at Café Vacca Matta, call Detective Warrant Officer Swami Pillay at 082 556 1380.
