Failed hijack: woman shot

2010-06-15 00:00

A DURBAN woman was seriously wounded when she was shot twice during a botched hijacking in Effingham, north of Durban.

It is believed two armed men approached the young woman as she pulled into the driveway of her Belmont Avenue home.

Police spokesperson Colonel Vincent Mdunge said she was shot in the shoulder and abdomen during a scuffle with the men. He would not reveal the woman’s identity as her attackers are still at large and there are fears the suspects will return to the scene.

“The men left the vehicle and fled on foot. Nothing was taken from the victim,” he said.
