Fake ATM card: suspect in court

2012-08-17 00:00

AN attempt to pay for copious amounts of liquor using an allegedly counterfeit bank card, on the 13th of this month was an unlucky move for an Umzumbe resident.

Members of the Durban commercial crime unit, a fraud expert and an investigator from a prominent banking institution had been on his trail.

Zithulele Ngcobo (31) was arrested at a bottle store in Manaba.

He was expected to make his second appearance in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Police yesterday repeated their warning to people to be vigilant at ATMs and not allow themselves to be distracted.

“They should be wary of people approaching them for assistance,” said spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane.
