Family told to say ‘last goodbyes’

A PIETERMARITZBURG mother is frantic with worry after receiving SMSes saying that her missing daughter has been kidnapped.

Eunice Sibiya, the mother of Noxolo Sibiya (16), said she and her family have not been able to eat or sleep since Saturday afternoon when she discovered Noxolo had been kidnapped.

The distraught Sibiya from the Mkhambathini area told The Witness yesterday that she had left her daughter at home when she went to a funeral on Saturday.

When she returned, Noxolo was not at home and she assumed that she was visiting a relative’s house in the same yard as she often spent a lot of time there.

“We started worrying when I realised she was not at the relative’s house … and started calling all our other relatives asking if they had seen her.”

Her world turned upside down when she was informed through an SMS that she had been kidnapped.

Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane said the family had received threatening messages informing them that they “must say their last goodbyes”.

Noxolo is fair in complexion, 1,4 metres in height and of slender build. It is believed that she was wearing a black skirt and a T-shirt, and carrying a blue school bag at the time of her disappearance. A kidnapping case is being investigated.

Zwane said anyone that can assist with any information regarding Noxolo’s whereabouts should contact detective Warrant Officer Deon du Plessis at his office at 033 390 3521 or his cell at 082 459 7639.
