Fans vow to keep the flag flying high and wearing Bafana colours

2010-06-23 00:00

BAFANA Bafana’s last 2010 Fifa World Cup match against France yesterday was nothing short of an emotional rollercoaster ride. A blistering first half gave the nation the kind of hope that was last seen when Siphiwe Tshabalala smashed the hosts into the lead at Soccer City during the tournament opener against Mexico. This was followed by a second-half performance that ensured Bafana will play no further part in the tournament. For a while, though, South Africans all believed. Pubs and taverns around Pietermaritzburg were all visited by people who felt the need to show their support. Fan parks were also well attended. Most Bafana fans at Indumiso fan park said that even though their team is out of the World Cup, they are still going to wear Bafana colours and fly the South African flag high because the tournament needs their support.
