FANTASY epic Clash of the Titans, starring Sam Worthington (Avatar), Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes, is one of two new films opening at CineCentre in Pietermaritzburg today.

Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier’s remake of the 1981 film of the same name is loosely based on the Greek myth of Perseus (played by Worthington) the mortal son of the Greek god Zeus (Neeson) who has to carry out a series of quests in order to win the hand of the imprisoned princess Andromeda (Alexa Davalos) and defeat Hades the vengeful god of the underworld (Fiennes).

Also opening this weekend is the romantic comedy Leap Year starring Amy Adams (Enchanted, Doubt) and Matthew Goode (Watchmen).

After four years in a relationship passes without a marriage proposal, Anna Brady (Adams) decides enough is enough. Investing in the ancient Irish tradition that allows women to propose to men on Leap Day, she decides to follow her cardiologist boyfriend Jeremy (Adam Scott) from Boston to Dublin and get down on one knee herself.

But when unreliable aeroplanes, inclement weather and bad luck leave the controlling Anna stranded on the other side of Ireland, she must enlist the help of the carefree, but surly chef Declan (Goode) to get her across the country.
