Fast and furious thriller

2008-09-11 00:00

ONLY one new film opens locally this weekend — Taken, which will be showing at Ster Kinekor. The only other changes are Meet Dave appearing at Ster Kinekor, and Mamma Mia! and You Don’t Mess with the Zohan at Nu Metro.

Pierre Morel directs Taken, which was produced and co-written by Luc Besson. Liam Neeson stars as an ex-CIA man whose 17-year-old daughter (Maggie Grace) is kidnapped while on a trip to Europe with a friend. He let her go reluctantly, under pressure from his ex-wife (Famke Janssen), and now it is up to him to get her back.

Neeson has been absent from our screens for a while, and here he should be in the thick of fast and furious action — something he usually does well. And with Luc Besson involved, it should make for a good thriller.
