Fat bonuses to players the secret behind Thanda’s turnaround

2010-11-17 00:00

NATIONAL First Division Coastal Stream outfit Thanda Royal Zulu’s goalkeeper, Oscar Ramoagodi, revealed that fat bonuses offered by the management are part of the reason for the team’s turnaround.

He said these would and will help Thanda achieve their dream of reclaiming their PSL status.

Richards Bay-based Thanda registered an emphatic home 3-0 victory over African Warriors on the weekend to stay a point behind log leaders Bay United, who were shocked 2-1 by Blackburn Rovers in the Eastern Cape derby.

Thanda, coached by Mlungisi “Professor” Ngubane, have 13 points to Bay’s 14 from eight matches played.

In the Inland Stream, University of Pretoria inflicted more pain on Jomo Cosmos in Pretoria, holding them to a goalless draw.

Ezenkosi’s fourth successive draw leaves them two points adrift of leaders Tuks, although Jomo Sono’s team have a game in hand after their midweek clash with Witbank Spurs was postponed.

Tuks stay top with 15 points while Cosmos lay third with 13 points.

Meanwhile, four NFD clubs, two from the Inland Stream and two from the Coastal Stream, will appear before a Disciplinary Committee hearing today.

PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu said the hearings will be held at PSL Parktown offices and commence at 5pm.

Nathi Lions face a charge of misconduct following their failure to attend the pre-match meeting on November 14 in the NFD Coastal Stream match against Hanover Park FC at the Wynberg Military Base.

FC AK face a charge of failing to provide the match meeting with the match documents on time in their Inland Stream match against Batau FC on September 18.

Carara Kicks face a charge of failing to comply with medical requirements. In their Coastal Stream match against Hanover Park on November 6, the game commenced without paramedics and stretcher bearers, who arrived at half time.

Black Leopards face a charge of misconduct following their late arrival at the pre-match meeting on November 6 in their NFD Inland Stream match against United FC at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium.

Majavu said all the clubs charged have the option of settling for an admission of guilt fine of R5 000.
