Film: Sunday, Nu Metro ***

After the surprise hit Golmaal — Fun Unlimited, director Rohit Shetty returns to the box office with another remake, this time of the Telugu film Anukokunda Oka Roju.

Sunday strikes a good balance between suspense and comedy as a young woman’s world turns topsy-turvy when she gets a clue about a Sunday she can’t remember.

Sehar (Ayesha Takia) is a bubbly young woman who works as a dubbing artist. But she is in the habit of forgetting things. One Saturday night Sehar and her friend Ritu (Anjana Sukhani) go to a night club and cannot remember what happened on a particular Sunday.

All she knows is that she has strangers like taxi driver Ballu (Arshad Warsi) and his actor friend Kumar (Irfan Khan) and a bunch of goons after her, claiming several things.

Then in steps A.C.P. Rajveer (Ajay Devgan) and his sidekick Anwar (Mukesh Tiwari) trying to get to the bottom of this fiasco. Rajveer falls for Sehar, but as he goes on investigating the Sunday murder case all clues point to Sehar, especially since she cannot remember what happened the Saturday night after she left the nightclub.

The rest of the film is about putting the pieces of the puzzle together about the missing Sunday and finding the real killer, which turns out to be a very engaging entertainer.

Ajay Devgan has proved to have a flair for comedy and strikes the right chord, while Takia does justice to a tailor-made role. Wasi and Khan compliment each other very well in superb performances.

Director Shetty gives an engaging murder mystery in true-blue Bollywood masala style to hit the bull’s eye at the box office.
