Film-maker workshop tomorrow

2013-08-30 00:00

THE Durban Film Office will host a Zero Budget Filmmaking Workshop at the INK (Inanda Ntuzuma KwaMashu) Creative Centre tomorrow from 8 am to 5 pm as part of the second annual Ntuzuma Arts Festival, which runs until Sunday.

The monthly workshops are run by Philani Sithebe, of Durban Motion Pictures, a script editor and director with over 15 years’ experience. He has worked on the films Nothing for Mahala Gazi and Umalokazane among others, and has had five movies broadcast by DStv’s Mzansi Magic.

“The monthly market programme forms part of the DFO’s drive to make local films accessible to a wider audience and is poised to provide a platform for Durban film-makers to develop their craft, promote projects, network and collaborate with other film-makers on new projects,” said Toni Monty of the DFO.

The workshop aims to provide budding filmmakers with the tools, tips and techniques of how to shoot low-budget films, and provide a platform to discuss ideas on independent film-making and distribution.
