Three of the films have been popular at recent festivals: the Hungarian comedy 12.08 East of Bucharest (2006), the off-beat Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Syndromes and a Century (2006) and Philip Gröning’s documentary Into Geat Silence (2005), which gives outsiders a glimpse into the austere life of Carthusian monks.
