Firearms: licences awaiting collection

2011-11-08 00:00

THE Mountain Rise firearms office has 777 competency certificates and 58 firearm licences that have not been collected by the applicants.

The applicants are asked to call the firearm officer on 033 387 9507 / 16 or visit 18 Willowton Road between 7.30 am and 4 pm, Monday to Friday, with their identity documents.

People who are in possession of firearms for safekeeping on behalf of other licence holders must ensure that they are have the police 539 form (permission to store a firearm), which is issued only by a designated firearm officer.

An appeal is also made to those who applied in 2005 to renew their competency certificates as the period of five years expires in December 2011. Licences and certificates not collected after 90 days will be returned to the firearms registry.
