First Oktoberfest in the midlands will send two lucky patrons to germany

2010-09-01 00:00

OOMPA bands will team up with some of the province’s most popular bands, at the first-ever Oktoberfest to be held at Pecanwood, Merrivale, 15 minutes from Pietermaritzburg, this October.

For R69 a head, patrons will get a full night’s worth of fun, entertainment, and food … and to ensure that no one needs to drink and drive, camping facilities are also included in the package, at no extra charge.

The organisers have deliberately kept the price as low as possible to encourage as many visitors to come and experience this inaugural Midlands Fest event, which they expect will become an annual event on the local social calendar.

The event scheduled for Saturday October 9, is being organised by MRJ Events. Gates will open at 12 noon with the live bands starting from 2pm, and playing until late. Twenty-four hour security will be provided to ensure the safety of patrons. The event will come to a close the following day at 10 am.

All-night competitions will give patrons a shot at fabulous prizes, including a trip for two to the 2011 Oktoberfest in Germany, with return-flights to London, all applicable airport taxes, a five-day Contiki tour and accommodation at the Contiki Tent Village in the heart of Oktoberfest territory.

Pecanwood patrons will get a ticket in the draw with every drink purchased during the evening. Tickets will be drawn throughout the evening with prizes from The Witness, Student Flights, Contiki and SAB. The big travel prize of a trip to Germany will be announced at the end of the evening.

Other activities running through the night including the King and Queen of Oktoberfest contests, where drinking teams will compete for great prizes, will create an unforgettable Oktoberfest atmosphere, unlike any seen outside of Germany.

Be sure to get your tickets soon and get your friends there too, for the night out of the year!

Tickets are available at Computicket. For enquires please contact 074 821 1144.
