Fist-fighting among ANCYL in Harry Gwala region

2010-03-26 00:00

POLARISATION in the ranks of the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in Harry Gwala (Sisonke) region continues to deepen, following yet another round of fist-fighting among its members.

Ntobeko Mavuka, deputy chairman of the league and Sicelo Mphetshwa, an ordinary member, are said to have exchanged blows in the Kokstad municipal offices at the weekend.

The incident happened soon after an ANCYL meeting attended by the league’s national secretary-general, Vuyiswa Tulelo.

The Witness has learnt that the purpose of her visit was to check the readiness of the ANCYL in the region ahead of the regional conference.

The motive behind the fight is believed to be political differences.

ANCYL spokesman in the region Nyaniso Msiya confirmed the incident but refused to comment further.
