Forced changes to KZN Inland team

2009-11-11 00:00

THE KZN Inland team to meet Boland in Paarl from tomorrow to Sunday has been named.

Morné van Vuuren has work commitments, but will play in Sunday’s 40-over match.

Chad Barron is unavailable due to exams, while returning to the team are captain Tim Drummond, who missed the North West matches while he was attending the national hockey camp, and Oliver Humphries, who is back after writing exams.

In other news, The Witness was finally able to track down the scores in the recent KZN Inland versus KZN Coastal women’s provincial match.

Although the Inland women were comfortably beaten, they managed to bat the full 50 overs without being dismissed.

It is a pity that the women’s competition is not divided into a first division and second division, which would hopefully eliminate some of the mismatches.

Meanwhile, the 40-over Provincial Challenge match between KZN Coastal and Boland saw the home side win by a comfortable margin of 69 runs at Chatsworth on Sunday.

Set a second innings target of 292 on the final day of the three-day match on Saturday, Boland were 195 for eight after 77 overs at match end.

It was a productive weekend for Jon Kent, who hit 208 runs in the two matches.
