Forum hopes to spur more youngsters to vote

THE Local Youth Development Forum took the initiative to educate first-time voters on the basics of ballotting and the importance of voting, ahead of the local government elections to be held on Wednesday.

At a meeting in KwaNzimakwe near Port Edward, chairperson Nkosi Mkhize said it is surprising that a many youths have still not registed to vote, but he felt that with such forums, future elections will see an increase in the number of voters.

“We are an NGO and are not aligned to any party so we simply want to teach our youth in the best interest of the country,” he said.

The meeting was opened by the ward councillor Nomusa Shusha. Zanale Mpofana and Musa Danca of the Independent Electorial Commission addressed the community.
