Forum marks human rights day with silent protest

MEMBERS of the Victim Empowerment Forum,Pietermaritzburg branch, which deals with gender-based violence, marked Human Rights Day by handing out pamphlets condemning violence against women and children to motorists yesterday.

The forum is made up of a number of organisations, including the National Prosecuting Authority.

A source said the forum had opted to celebrate Human Rights Day by distributing pamphlets in five areas around the city.

She said they wore black clothing with white gags to show that the victims could not speak for themselves. — WR.
