Four nabbed: car theft linked with murder

2011-04-15 00:00

FOUR men were arrested and a large quantity of stolen goods recovered in Durban on Tuesday. Police have linked the suspects to the murder of a 77-year-old Hillcrest woman.

The men allegedly stole a Nissan 1400 bakkie in Botha’s Hill, west of Durban at about 4.45 am. Police located the vehicle with two occupants in the nearby village of KwaNyuswa.

“The suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled into the bush. Police officials then gave chase and arrested both of them,” said police spokesperson Colonel Jay Naicker.

Questioning of the suspects led to the arrest of two more suspects. They have been charged with robbery and the murder committed on April 8. They are in custody while the investigation continues.
