2011-09-20 00:00

KWAZULU-NATAL High Court interpreter Graphic ‘GG’ Khoza has delayed his trial in the Pietermaritzburg Regional Court as he wants a review of an application to the court that has been refused by the magistrate.

Khoza is charged with defraudingR16 660 from the Justice and Constitutional Development Department.

Khoza allegedly claimed for travelling costs incurred in his private vehicle when he had in fact got a lift with a colleague in a state vehicle between Pongola and Pietermaritzburg.

Khoza wants the review of his application for access to confidential correspondence between the state and the police.

Khoza is conducting his own defence.

He also intends to apply for a permanent stay of prosecution.

Magistrate Chris van Vuuren set the trial for next year in March.

The fraud was allegedly committed between March 1 and March 26 last year.

Khoza is on R1 000 bail.
