Fraud: 'Doctor’ back in court

2011-12-07 00:00

ALLEGED “abortion doctor” Jonathan Kinane appeared in court again yesterday after being re-arrested in the court cells shortly after he was released on a technicality on Monday.

Kinane and a co-accused, Ivan Kigeni, are charged with defrauding a woman of R103 000 by pretending they were doctors with powers to communicate with her ancestors.

Prosecutor Rene Padayachee told the magistrate, Reard Abrahams, that Kinane will face further charges similar to those in the previous case involving allegations that he assisted women to terminate their pregnancies.

Padayachee indicated that the state will oppose bail.

The case was postponed to December 12. — Witness Reporter.
