Fraud charge laid against SA Roadlink

2012-06-06 00:00

A CHARGE of fraud has been laid against SA Roadlink after André Smit, a former national transport manager, smuggled allegedly forged documents from the bus company’s offices in Johannesburg.

Octavia Mamabolo, spokersperson for the Roads and Transport Department, confirmed that a charge had been laid with the Johannesburg Central police office.

She said the permits were fraudulent, as Gauteng issued permits only for minibus taxi operators and no other mode of transport.

Smit told City Press he saw how a top manager forged Gauteng government permits for specified buses to drive in the province.

SA Roadlink’s spokesperson denied Smit’s claims and said the bus that was involved in an accident on Monday morning had all the correct, legal permits. — WR.
