Frustration for club cricketers

2014-11-27 00:00

IT has been a quiet fortnight on the KZN Inland Premier club cricket front and last weekend’s lone match was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to the weather conditions. This has made life very frustrating for the players of late.

The Zingari versus Varsity clash has an ageless rivalry but the players were never able to let a ball fly in anger last Sunday as the bad weather forced the match, which had been held over from the first round, to be cancelled.

Varsity are set to be featuring in the University Sport South Africa (USSA) national competition. The fixtures scheduled for them and their opponents over the next two weeks will be contested as double-headers on future dates.

The only Premier team match this Sunday is a Maritzburg Cricket Association (MCA) 50-over clash between log leaders and reigning champs Standard and Imbali-based Masibemunye at Wanderers Club in Aberfeldy Road.

Saturday afternoon sees a number of lower league 35-over matches. Hopefully the local club cricketers will come out over the next four days and support the KZN Inland senior team in their KZN derby against the Durban-based KZN Coastal side.
