KZN-MTB will be hosting the KZN MTB Endurance Team Relay (a fun Cross Country event) next Sunday (January 22) at Cascades, Pietermaritzburg.

The course is about five kilometres long and easy to moderate in difficulty, making it an event for the whole family. Its also a great way to get into the swing of cross country before the season starts.

Teams of two or three will have a time limit to complete as many laps as possible. For U14 and younger this will be four hours and for Juniors and above, eight hours.

This will be easy to do as riders will do a lap and then rest for one or two laps, depending on how many in the team. There will be multiple detours, shortcuts, road blocks and pit stops along the route, these features being “engineered” to help level the playing field between the racing snakes and the fun riders.

Participants are encouraged to improve their general knowledge and bring a sense of humour on “race day”. The emphasis is on having a fun day outdoors and riding our bikes with friends and family. Funds raised at this event will go towards maintaining the Cascades Trails in 2012.
