Fundraiser: 'Shall We Dance' organisers donate a performance

2010-09-21 00:00

TO HELP raise money for the new Denis Hurley Centre, the organisers of Shall We Dance have donated a performance of the dance spectacular at the Playhouse Opera Theatre to the centre tonight at 7.30 pm.

The Denis Hurley Centre has been planned as a multipurpose community centre in the heart of Durban, affiliated to Emmanuel Cathedral and will house various ecumenical and community projects.

The new building will house the cathedral’s outreach and social responsibility programmes, including homeless support and feeding projects, a refugee pastoral care, a nursing-HIV/Aids programme, a comprehensive counselling service, the St Vincent de Paul Society, a multipurpose conference and educational centre, a catering facility, a coffee shop, a book shop, a craft shop, a resource centre and exhibition space. There will also be accommodation for visiting interns and volunteers.

Shall We Dance promises to delight audiences with its eclectic mix of quality dance — all with an underlying ballroom and Latin-American theme. Dances include ballroom and Latin American dancing, Indian classical, hip-hop, modern, ballet, Bollywood, Argentian tango and American Smooth.

• Shall We Dance runs at the Playhouse until Saturday.

Seats are available downstairs and in the lounge in the Playhouse Opera only. Booking is through Computicket.
