WALKERS and runners of all shapes and sizes will converge on Scottsville race course on Sunday morning for an event that will bring the vulnerability of pedestrians, runners and cyclists under the spotlight

It will also raise funds to help a recent victims of a road accident.

Chiltern Athletic club stalwart Frankie Cawdry was hit by a car on Wednesday May 20. She was moved last week from St Augustine’s Hospital in Durban to Wembley House convalescing unit in Pietermaritzburg.

Cawdry has undergone extensive reconstructive facial surgery and is able to walk with some assistance, but still has considerable challenges to overcome before achieving full recovery.

Having completed 10 Comrades, the Duzi Canoe marathon and summiting Kilimanjaro, the 52-year-old adventurer has taken this unfortunate accident on as just one more challenge.

In addition to the 5 km fun run and 10 km race there will be a one-kilometre route for children starting from the Gold Circle Scottsville Race Course infield at 8 am. Medals will be available on request for finishers.

As it is primarily a fundraising event entrance is R20 for either distance.
