Get laced up funky This Friday

2014-05-27 00:00

GRAB your favourite pair of takkies and change the laces to show your support for charity as part of this year’s Tekkie Tax celebrations on Friday, May 30.

Last year’s fundraiser raised R2,4 million for more than 180 welfare organisations in the country, including Epilepsy SA, Child Welfare, SOS Children’s Villages, CHOC (Childhood Cancer Foundation), Special Olympics SA, the Endangered Wildlife Trust, Hospice Palliative Care SA, Meals on Wheels and Cheshire Homes.

Members of the public can get a Tekkie Tax sticker for a R10 donation from any of the participating welfare organisations and wear the sticker on their lapel. Alternatively, spiff up your takkies by getting a pair of funky shoelaces or “Tekkie Tags”, for R30.

Annelise de Jager, National project organiser said, “Saving money is always an important issue but saving money in a fundraising campaign is vital.

“With 15 national welfare organisations working together we are able to keep the costs of the project lower than any other campaign of its kind.

“We are not re-inventing the wheel but we are changing the face of fundraising in SA!”
