• HCF (Hillcrest Christian Fellowship) hosts a worship evening entitled Thirsty at 7 pm. Entrance is free and the line-up includes Jon Daniel of Australia and others.

• Khabozinto Entertainment launch at Madlula’s Place featuring Khabozinto artists Amaroca (PMB) and Aziwa (PMB), whose albums will be in stores on October 2. They will be supported by DJs Chynaman (G99.5fm), Khetha Gwala (Ukhozi fm) Andileh (PMB), King Sfiso (G99.5fm), Lavista and T-Roxter. Entrance is R50 and women get in free before 10pm.

• Every Friday night is Student Night at Foxy’s. Contact Fern Hill Hotel at 033 330 5071.

• The Olive Tree hosts Jammo for sundowners from 4.30 pm by the deck bar.

• Barry Ritson will be performing at Collegians Club until the end of September.

• The Kick ‘n Whistle behind the Woodburn Stadium hosts DJ Shaw who will provide music from the eighties to now. Secure parking is available. Inquiries: 033 342 3528.



• Every Saturday at the Hilton Durban, Rivets, in association with former South African DJ champion, DJ Vijen, will be hosting a bhangra fusion party. R80 will get you in before 11 pm and it’s R100 per person thereafter. The party starts from 9 pm.



• Bev MacGregor performs at the Kick ‘n Whistle (behind Woodburn Stadium). A three-course meal is on offer from noon. Entrance is free. Bookings for lunch is advised: 076 074 4726.

• Brett Cox and Roly Struckmeyer perform every Sunday afternoon at the Stagecoach. Inquiries: 072 654 6224.

• Mike from Marshal Music plays laid-back piano and keyboard favourites from 5.30 pm at the Nevada Spur at Cascades.

• Jammo will be performing at the Olive Tree from lunch time onwards with a very laid-back selection over lunch and getting more lively later on.



• St Clements presents Durban ensemble Dark Choclate, who will perform seven songs of sombre music from 7 pm — some traditional, some Bob Dylan, some local. Performers include Rick Andrew, Gill Andrew and Dennis Bronner. The evening takes place at St Clements Coffee Shop, Musgrave Road near Musgrave Centre. There will be coffee and wine available.



• Derrick Zuma and his ensemble band will be the featured act at the Maritzburg Musicians’ Club, supported by the vibrant and energetic reggae/funk band Tuff Gong. 8 pm, R20 at the Red Door (Quarry Road).



• At the Stagecoach every Wednesday is open mic night with Brett Cox. For more information, phone 072 654 6224.

• Jammo continues his popular Wednesday night slot at the Nevada spur at Cascades with a wide range of feel-good numbers from 5.30 pm to 9.30 pm.

• The Kick ’n Whistle hosts karaoke tonight with Jen and Gary. Inquiries: 033 342 3528.



• Phuza Thursdays at Foxy’s every Thursday night with a DJ, dance floor and chill lounge. R8 for a draught and R5 for a spirit and mixer. Contact Fern Hill Hotel at 033 330 5071.

• Jen and Gary host karaoke from 7.30 pm at Lizzards Rock.



• September 18: The Pixie Bennet Band will be performing at Harvey Wallbangerz (Durban North) from 7 pm as part of the band’s national tour. Entrance is R50. The support act is Shannon Connelly.

• September 18: Nibs van der Spuy will be performing at the Witness Hilton Arts Festival next week at Hilton College’s Fleur de Lys Club on September 18 at 6 pm and September 20 at 1 pm, with a special guitar workshop on September 19 in the band room.
