• Get To Da Chopa is at the Red Door, covering mainstream rock favourites from the likes of The Pixies, Greenday, Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and some originals too. The band plays from 9.30 pm until 11:00 pm. Then mosh with DJ Jamie until the early hours of the morning. Doors open at 7 pm. Entrance is R10 before 9 pm and R30 after 9 pm. • Rockafella’s Dance Club is open for karaoke with Gary and Jen until 10 pm, with DJ Kamil thereafter. Inquiries: 033 342 9522/21.

• Karaoke at Stagecoach with Delwyn every Friday from 7 pm until 10 pm.

• From 7 pm, Red Door hosts DJ Scotty and DJ Cliffbert with a wide repertoire of rock, metal, and some drum ‘n bass too. Entrance is free.



• All-day fun and activities for the whole family at Mountain View country pub and entertainment centre, including live music through the day with Jammo.

• The Monday lunch-hour concert at Howard College Theatre presents Woodwind Quint Fest, a woodwind quintet featuring Petra Conrads (flute), Margrit Deppe (oboe), Kirsten Sayers (clarinet), Anele Mnguni (bassoon) and Marian van Duyker (horn). They will be performing works by Malcolm Arnold, Allan Stephenson, Dario Morgan and Becky Steltzner. The theatre is situated on the UKZN Howard College campus, Durban, and the concert starts at 12:15 am. Entry is free. Contact 031 260 3353 for more information.



• Maritzburg Musicians’ Club, hosted at the Red Door, features Tuff Gong and the Splayed Ferrets. Entrance is R30. The evening starts at 8 pm.



• Splashy Fen, South Africa’s longest-running music festival, takes place over the Easter weekend. Tickets are now on sale at Computicket and Game Stores for R500.

• The Red Door hosts DJ Scotty putting out some classics by Nirvana, Beck, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers and much more. Free entrance all night and doors open at 7 pm. Strictly no under 18s. Inquiries: phone Tosch at 071 444 2111.

• April 23. The Bruce Baker Quartet, consisting of Burton Naidoo, Natalie Rungan, Bruce Baker and Dane Francis, will be performing jazz standards, some contemporary tunes and a few of Natalie’s own hits. The concert takes place in lecture room DSLT on PMB UKZN’s main campus at 7 pm. Tickets are R25 for students and scholars and R50 for others.
