• Nibs van der Spuy will be performing at the Hexagon Dive today and tomorrow in the popular picnic-evening format (people take their own food, but no drinks are allowed — there is a cash bar). Entrance is R75 and the evening starts at 7 pm for 7.30 pm. Bookings: phone 033 260 5537 or e-mail

• The last jol of summer nights at The Witness Demo Gardens, from 8 pm. Dress code: summer. Entry is free with invite (R70 without). DJs Sduz, Lipps, T-Roxter and Nsika-J. For more information phone 073 369 6595.

• Rockafellas hosts karaoke with Gary and Jen, from 6 pm to 10 pm.



• Alliance Française (Durban) will be hosting a hip-hop event called D`urban Street Art gathering graffitti artists, MC , beat boxing, krump, and break dancing from 2.30 pm until 6 pm. There will be ten or more artists battling for one prize. The winners will be decided by a crowd vote. The event will be hosted by artist Blackmoss. To enter please contact Warren at

• The Last Musketeer is performing at the Bierfassl in Nottingham Road. Entrance is free.



• Swissland Cheese presents Horny Goat Gigs featuring The Royal, Zaffa and a tribute to Johnny Cash from 12.30 pm to 4.30 pm. R70 picnic for family and friends. On sale are boerewors rolls, hot dogs, soft drinks, Notties beer, cheese and wine. Take a picnic and some friends and enjoy great music in beautiful surroundings. • The Drumshack, nestled snugly in the Stables Lifestyle Market, Morningside, will host the Meditators (Durban’s hallmark reggae band), Maisha (world music band) and Woodpecker (live drumming and percussion ensemble). • Catch Jammo live at Mountain View country pub and entertainment centre throughout the day. There will be a full bar and catering, braai facilities, and a range of activities available for the wholefamily.

• Ricoshay (Live Electro Act), as well as other electro DJs, will be performing live at Fashion TV, Florida Road.

• Join the band Too Close every Sunday afternoon at Zacks, located in Windermere Centre (Windermere Road, Durban) for an afternoon of cool jazz and smooth jams. Starts at 3.30 pm until late. Entry is free. Phone 031 312  0755 for more information.


• The Maritzburg Musicians’ Club hosts Zephyr and Four Leaf at the Red Door this Tuesday. Entrance is R30 and the evening starts at 8 pm. Don’t forget those special Splashy Fen tickets at only R400 each (R100 saving) — available only at MMC.

• March 26. Strike 3 Music Festival — Fundraiser for the KZN Junior IRT Baseball Tour, featuring Salty Rits, LMB, Graham Boyle and Spider Murch Dilligaf and Red Light Stereo. Gates open at noon and bands start at 2 pm.

• April 21. Splashy Fen, South Africa’s longest-running music festival, takes place over the Easter weekend. Tickets are now on sale at Computicket and Game Stores for R500.
