• Music Circle is hosted by Mountain View tonight. This is an informal jam session for musicians of all levels, and it starts at 6 pm. Entry is free, just take an instrument or come for the vibe.

• January 27 to January 29: Platform Jazz at the Rhumbelow Theatre — seven-piece Dixieland band plays authentic twenties toe-tapping jazz, including famous numbers such as the Fats Waller favourites. The show starts 8 pm on Friday and Saturday, and at 6.30 pm on Sunday. A bar will be available (no alcohol may be brought on to the premises). • February 3 to February 5 : Up the Creek Music Festival’s line-up includes aKing, Akkedis, Black Cat Bones, Blues Broers, Cameron Bruce, City Bowl Mizers, Fox Comet, Great Apes, Holiday Murray, Hot Water, Karen Zoid, Louwtjie Rothman, Machiniri, No One’s Arc, Piet Botha, Taxi Violence, ­Wreshrelish, Jeremy Loops, Luna Paige, Shadowclub, Sterling EQ, Andra, Peachy Keen, AC/DC Tribute and Southern Gypsey Queen. The festival will host the main stage, the MK river stage and the all-night-long BOS Breede River bar stage once again. • February 5: uShaka Marine World presents The Meditators, a local eight-piece reggae-style band, who will again be celebrating Bob Marley Earth Day Reggae Music Festival — a worldwide celebration of the reggae legend’s birthday. • February 14: Old Mutual Music at the Lake hosts a Valentines concert, featuring Arno Carstens, which will take place at the Durban Botanic ­Gardens at 7 pm. For more information, phone 031 322 4021.

• February 17 to February 9: Godfrey Johnson returns to Durban at the Rhumbelow Theatre with two great shows — The Songs of Noel Coward and Jacques Brel. He will perform The Jukebox Favourites on Feb­ruary 18.

• February 25: Rewind 80s Music Festival comes to Kings Park in Durban, featuring ABC, Midge Ure (Ultravox), Marc Almond, Howard Jones, Go West and Village People.

• March 6: Jesus Culture will be performing at a conference at the City Hill Church in Durban, as part of the band’s nationwide tour. Tickets are R150.

• March 7: Usher to headline the Hansa Festival of Legends Tour at the ICC Durban Arena. Tickets range from R250 to R450, and can be bought by phoning 086 1915 8000 or at www.compu­
