• Local band Tuff Gong will be on stage at the Red Door from 9.30 pm. Doors open at 7 pm, entrance is R10 before 9 pm and R30 after 9 pm. Strictly no under 18s allowed. Inquiries: Jamie at 082 975 4473.

• Joyful Friday featuring DJs Claude (Stereo Candi), Sduz, Lips and Andre (hip-hop) at The Witness Demo Gardens (Alex Park) from 8 pm. Entrance: is R50. Dress: Smart, sexy and stylish. Inquiries: 033 845 1913.

• Goldfish is performing at the Pietermaritzburg Botanical Gardens. Gates open from 10 am until 6 pm. Children under 10 are free. Tickets are R80 presale at Computicket, R100 at the door. • Jammo will be playing at Mountain View country pub and entertainment venue from noon onwards. Bring the family and enjoy a variety of fun activities on offer.

• Sunday Jazz at the Caledon Hotel in Ballito featuring The George Mari Band: George Mari (trumpet), Logan Byrne (bass), Sidney Rash (drums) and Debbie Mari (piano and vocals) every Sunday until the end of February, from noon to 3 pm. Inquiries: 032 947 1660.

• Join the band Too Close every Sunday afternoon at Zacks, located in Windermere Centre, Windermere Road, Durban, for an afternoon of cool jazz and smooth jams. Starts at 3.30 pm. Entry is free. Phone 031 312 0755 for more information.



• Richard Haslop is the featured guest at the lunch-hour concert at Howard College Theatre (UKZN Durban campus), performing slide guitar, dobro and mandolin. Entrance is free. Phone 031 260 3353 for more details.



• Red Door Drumming Circle starts at 7 pm with the Beginners Circle, where basic rhythms are taught and practised. There is no age limit or age restriction. At 8 pm the jamming session starts, which goes on well into the night. Take your drums, shakers, digeridoo, scratchers or rent a drum. • Calseys hosts Karaoke with Gary and Jen. Inquiries: 033 342 3528.



• Every Thursday night from 8 pm at Red Door, jazz recordings with DJ Cliffbert. Some great classics from pulsating African jazz rhythms to technical contemporaries, spicing up the evening with a bit of soul, funk and blues. Entrance is R15. Inquiries: Tosch at 071 444 2111.



• March 4: Killing Iris will be performing at the Red Door.

• March 5: Splayed Ferrets will be rocking the stage at the Red Door. Entrance is R35.

• April 21: Splashy Fen, South Africa’s longest-running music festival, takes place over the Easter weekend. Tickets are now on sale at Computicket and Game stores for R500.
