• John Ellis (ex-Tree63) brings his acoustic ensemble for an intimate courtyard supper gig at St Clements Restaurant, 191 Musgrave Road, Durban, at 7.30 pm. Tickets R50 at the door plus dinner. Reservations: 031 202 2511.

• Red Door Friday with Jamie and crew. R10 before 9 pm.

• Karaoke at Rockafellas with Jen and Gary from 6 pm to 10 pm.

• The Jackie Horner Pub and Grill at 47 Helen Joseph (Davenport) Road, Glenwood, hosts the Kickstands from 9 pm to midnight. The band will be recording video material for their demo release.

• The Last Musketeer will be performing at Collegians from 7 pm. Good food and music. Inquiries: 082 761 5249.

• Cliffy’s hosts open mic with the Plagiarists. Bring an instrument and showcase yourself. Inquiries: 033 396 6710.


• Drum ’n Bass Party with DJ Cliffbert at the Red Door from 7.30 pm. Entrance fee is R15.

• Mountain View country pub presents live music with Jammo after the Springbok vs Barbarians rugby match on the big screen.

• Afritude (Sylvester) will be performing live at the Keg and Hedgehog (Town Bush Road) from 7 pm to 11 pm.

• All-day fun and activities for the whole family at Mountain View country pub and entertainment venue. Live music with Jammo and friends.

• Join Too Close every Sunday afternoon at Zacks restaurant in Windermere Centre, Windermere Road, Durban for cool jazz and smooth jams from 3.30 pm until late. Entry free. Phone 031 312 0755.

• The Jackie Horner Pub and Grill at 47 Helen Joseph (Davenport) Road, Glenwood, hosts the Hinds Brothers from 1 pm to 3 pm with their laid-back country sound.


• Drumming Circle every second Tuesday at the Red Door. Beginner’s circle from 7 pm to 8 pm where basic rhythms will be taught and practiced. No age limit. Jamming session from 8 pm till late. Entry is R10 to be paid at the bar plus R10 to use a drum.


• Yossi’s Café has reintroduced Jazz for emerging talent, with the U C Jazz Ensemble under the baton of trombonist/ drummer Xolani Hlongwa, who teaches music at Umlazi Com Tech. Jazzy Wednesday nights take place from 6 pm to 10 pm and Sunday lunch jazz is from 1 pm to 5 pm at Yossi’s, 127 Davenport Road, Glenwood. Phone Cara at 031 201 0090.

• DJ Fidget at Red Door from 8 pm. Expect commercial, rock and Dubstep. Entrance is R10 (every Wednesday).
