• The Kick ‘n Whistle behind the Woodburn Stadium hosts Shaun who will provide music from the eighties to now to dance and party to. Secure parking is available. Inquiries: 033 342 3528.



• Acoustic double bill at Snap! Wine Bar in Durban, featuring Joburg-based Peter Hoven and Natalie Chapman. Music from 8 pm, entry is R50.

• Mountain View country pub features the live vibe with Jammo directly after the Springbok-All Blacks game on the big screen.

• Club CP (Crystal Palace) presents a variety party mix every Saturday with the funkiest house, R & B, bhangra and old school tunes from 8 pm. Inquiries: 033 387 7941.



• The Fern Hill Hotel in Howick hosts ­Grahamstown’s Kingswood College concert band and choir performing from noon in a lunch-time concert, in aid of the Fern Hill Orphans Trust. Entry by donation. Varied programme includes In the Mood, Simple Gifts from the Lord of the Dance, Disney at the Movies, Folk Song Suite, Can You Feel the Love Tonight by Elton John, Fields of Gold and many more.

• Emmanuel Castis performs at Krakatoa (Sibaya) with his band Emmanuel Castis and then some. The band consists of double-bass sensation Graeme Currie, Angie Peach on backing vocals, drummer Godfrey Mgcina, lead guitarist Sasha Sonnbichler, and Connie Bentlage on keyboard and ­saxophone. Opening is contemporary acoustic pop artist Ian Henderson. Doors open at 6.30 pm. Tickets: R70 at the door, or through Computicket at 083 915 8000.

• The Hilton Durban celebrates women with a special lunch buffet and Rivets Bar hosting a Women’s Day glamour party, which begins at 8 pm. Women’s dress code is glamorous while men can come smart casual. Entrance fee is R80 before 11 pm, R100 thereafter. Women can join in for free before 11 pm. Booking is essential: 031 336 8232.

• Club CP (Crystal Palace) hosts a massive bhangra party on Sunday from 8 pm. Dress up and get to CP.

• Mike from Marshall Music plays laid-back piano and keyboard favourites from 5.30 pm at the Nevada Spur at Cascades.

• Jammo will be performing at the Olive Tree from 1.30 pm with a very laid-back selection to start and the potential to get more lively later on. The Olive Tree is ­located next to McDonalds’ Garden Centre off Boshoff Street.



• Bheki Khoza Quartet will be performing at the Rainbow Restaurant in Pinetown from 1 pm. Doors open at 11 am. Tickets for the men R50/R40 and for Rainbow Jazz Club members and Durban Collective members. For women R25/R20 — the club’s Woman’s Day present.



• Jammo continues his popular Wednesday night slot at the Nevada Spur at Cascades, with a wide range of feel-good numbers from 5.30 pm to 9.30 pm.

• Every Thursday is open mic night at Snap! Wine Bar in Durban from 7 pm until 11 pm. All welcome, no entry fee.

• Ian Watson and Liezl-Marét Jacobs will perform at the Howard College Theatre at 7 pm. Tickets are R50 and R30 (students and pensioners). To book, phone Mandy at 031 260 3353.

• Jen and Gary host karaoke from 7.30 pm at the Lizards Rock.



• August 14: The Pixie Bennet Band will be performing at the St Anne’s Theatre at 7.30 pm. R50 concessions, R70 adults.
