Glenwood, DHS battle in pool, on court and on pitch

2014-02-25 00:00

GLENWOOD and Durban High renewed sporting rivalries this weekend, meeting on the cricket field, basketball court and swimming pool.

In the pool, Glenwood looked good in the junior waterpolo matches, winning the U14 and U15 encounters, the latter convincingly.

However, DHS started coming into their own as the senior matches went their way, with Glenwood’s seconds upsetting what would have been a perfect record on the day.

The first team match was a tough showdown with DHS gaining the initiative early on. Glenwood’s defensive errors in the first chukka cost them dearly and it took them a while to get into gear and play the game they are capable of.

When they started coming right it was too little too late and there was far too much ground to make up.

Of concern for Glenwood was their failure to convert when they had the extra man, scoring only two goals from 15 exclusions.

DHS’s basketball teams continued their good form, winning all four matches, thereby confirming their status as a force to be respected.

On the cricket field, matches were played from first team through to U14 level, with DHS again coming out top with a four-wicket win in the first team game.
