Glenwood Sevens weekend

2014-09-04 00:00

TOP schools from around the province and country converge on Glenwood this weekend to battle it out in the second annual Glenwood Photonote Toshiba Sevens rugby tournament.

The tournament, previously the @tlantic sevens, has been taken over and run by Glenwood for the second consecutive year.

With plenty of interest from other schools, the organisers have finalised the five pools consisting of five teams each.

Group A: Glenwood, George Campbell, Port Shepstone, St Charles, St Benedicts

Group B: Martizburg College, DHS, Clifton College, Hillcrest High School, eThekwini Rugby Development

Group C: Michaelhouse, Northwood, Port Natal, Glenwood Falcons, Kloof High School

Group D: Westville, Pionier, Midlands Development, Hilton College, Sarel Cilliers

The festival kicks off on Saturday with each team fielding 12 players — seven on the field and three reserves. The other two players in each squad must sit out a game.

After the pool stages, the teams battle it out in the knockout rounds.

There will be a trophy for each winner of the Cup, Plate, Shield and Bowl divisions, as well as medals for the players.
