GLENWOOD High School were recognised as the top schoolboy rugby side in the province last week.

The 10th annual Traditional Schools Rugby Luncheon was held at the Salt Rock Hotel last Friday, with 180 guests from nine of the province’s traditional rugby schools represented.

It’s a popular event and Glenwood were recognised as KZN’s best for the fifth time in 10 years, having taken the honours from 2008 to 2011.

The school’s first team captain and deputy head prefect Kevin du Randt received the award from Sharks chief executive officer John Smit, who was also the guest speaker.

Smit’s enthusiasm and positive approach to his role with the Sharks and KZNRU was evident and he emphasised the importance of these organisations in the development of schoolboy rugby in the province.

“This is an area where we look forward to significant development in the future,” he said.

Also among the guests was former Sharks and Springbok coach Ian MacIntosh.
