Gobind to assist Dolphins’ training

2012-09-20 00:00

STICKING with their policy of using past players in an attempt to add rare silverware to the trophy cabinet, the Dolphins have appointed Rivash Gobind as assistant coach to Lance Klusener.

Making the announcement at Kingsmead yesterday, KZNCU CEO Jesse Chelin said: “We need the best coaches to support and develop our players if we are to be successful. This appointment is deserved and creates the capacity within the Dolphins structure to fast track young talent.”

Gobind made his debut for the franchise in 2001/02 and from 2009, worked as a performance analyst for the Dolphins. In that time, he has obtained his CSA level three coaching credentials and it’s a matter of imparting his skills within what has been a stuttering machine over the past few seasons.

Said Gobind: “It’s an honour and privilege to have this position. As a player who came through the system, I know what is requir-ed and am now in a position to add value in develo-ping players going forward.”

Coach Klusener saw Gobind as a solid link with the team, particularly the younger players.

“He brings a great work ethic and great organisational skills to the coaching setup. As a former Dolphin he understands the culture this young team aspires to and he is a vital cog in our quest for silverware this season,” he said.
