Govt ministers also among wedding guests

LOCAL wines will be on the menu at the royal wedding in Monaco this weekend. And an increasing number of South Africans will be there to drink them.

Some of those attending the wedding are swimmers such as Terence Parkin, Roland Schoeman, Sarah Poewe and Ryk Neethling, who tweeted two days ago that he had just got his suit and is ready for the wedding.

Tourism Minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk will attend the big day as South Africa’s official representative, having been appointed by the president who could not attend himself.

Van Schalkwyk will give the couple a hand-crafted blown glass vase made by local artist Guido van Besouw, said Natasha Rockman, of the minister’s office.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu is on the guest list, reports the British Daily Mail.

Also expected to enjoy the royal celebrations are Justice Minister Jeff Radebe and his wife Bridgette, who are friends of the couple.

Local musician Jason Hartman will be performing at the wedding concert on Friday. He will open for The Eagles.
