Grade 1s happy with ‘big school’

2014-01-15 00:00

THERE were no tears from children starting Grade One at some of the city’s independent schools yesterday.

Grade One children at Epworth School, St John’s Diocesan School, and St Charles College appeared to be happy to be at “big” school.

Parents interviewed by The Witness said their children did not give them any problems waking up and getting ready for school as they were looking forward to being at school and wearing their new uniforms.

Relieved parents kissed their children goodbye and left the new classrooms, with their children smiling.

Bradley Barthorpe with his wife Natalia, dropped their daughter Anastasia (6) off at Epworth with a bunch of flowers she had brought for her teacher.

Recipient of the flowers, Grade One teacher Julie Brown, said, “I am happy to have been spoiled on the first day.”

Andisa Bantom and her child Achu Mshumpela were both all smiles as Achu was left at her Grade One class at St John’s Diocesan School.
