Great SA showing at the Mamas this year

THE nominees for the MTV Africa Music Awards (Mamas) have been revealed and the great news is that homegrown acts, Mafikizolo and Uhuru, are tied in first place on four nominations each, with Nigerian artist, Davido. There were also three nominations for SA’s Mi Casa.

Among the Durban-based acts getting nods at this year’s event are Big Nuz, The Arrows, Gangs of Ballet, Professor and Zakes Bantwini.

They will be joined by SA music heavyweights, AKA, Danny K, DJ C’ndo, DJ Kent, Donald, Goldfish, Khuli Chana, LCNVL, Matthew Mole, DJ Ganyani, and The Parlotones at the Mamas, which will be held at the ICC in Durban on June 7. The awards ceremony will be broadcast live at 9 pm CAT on MTV Base (DStv channel 322) and MTV (DStv channel 130). — Arts Editor.
