Great wisdom shared from legends at Tag Rugby Festival

2012-06-16 00:00

THERE were many happy and excited dads and sons at the Annual Merchiston Tag Rugby Festival.

Over 1 000 people, including proud parents, uncles and aunts, came out to support the event. Seven KwaZulu-Natal schools participated at the senior primary school event.

There was a lot of wisdom shared with the boys by rugby legends, such as former Sharks player Brad McLeod-Henderson and others.

The boys listened with great enthusiasm as Henderson spoke about the importance of working as a unit.

“Make sure you work together, don’t go off on your own.”

After listening carefully, the young rugby players applied some of the advice given by the former players, to their games. While some tackled each other on the rugby field, others kept busy by dancing, running around and making new friends.

There was one particular friend, popular Sharks mascot Sharky, who became everyone’s favourite person. The mascot waited patiently as everyone queued to get a picture with him and an autograph.

There was also great entertainment for the older crowd, music, braai and drinks.
