2010-10-21 00:00

A MAN was shot dead in Greytown on Tuesday morning.

Police said they received a report of a body on Makhaca Road in the Nhlalakahle area of Greytown.

The body, with bullet wounds to the head and left hip, was identified as Sibonelo Dumakude (29).

Investigations revealed that Damukude and his 25-year-old friend were waiting on the side of the road for a taxi when they were approached by two unknown men.

Police said one of the men produced a firearm and fired multiple shots at Dumakude.

His friend managed to get away and contacted the police.

A short while later the friend returned to the scene and found the fatally wounded Dumakude on the side of the road in a pool of blood.

The motive for the incident is unknown at this stage and no arrests have been made.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact Detective Warrant Officer Emanuel Wanda at 033 419 9034 or 082 528 5412.
