Greytown artist exhibits in Durban

2008-06-17 00:00

GREYTOWN portrait and wildlife artist Elga Rabe will be exhibiting her oil paintings at the Crouse Art Gallery in Durban’s Morningside from June 20.

Known for her portraits and wildlife paintings, Rabe has exhibited extensively around the country. Previously a school teacher, Rabe now paints full time, inspired by the tranquillity of country life.

Mother-of-four and married to a farmer, Rabe held her first art exhibition in 1975 in a poster shop in Durban. She took time out to raise her family and only got back into painting in 1990. She also teaches art, mainly to adults. Her students exhibit their art annually in Greytown.

Hours at the Crouse Gallery are 9 am till 4 pm weekdays and 9 am till noon on Saturdays. For more information phone 031 312 2315 or visit
