THE body of a popular Greytown teacher was found in the Nyukane River yesterday morning.

Sbonelo Gasa (35) last reported for duty at Tholinhlanhla Primary School on August 30, said principal Sunnyboy Ndlovu. He said Gasa was active in school activities and will be greatly missed. “We were shocked on receiving the news,” Ndlovu said.

“I got a call asking me to come to the river and when I got there I found that it’s our teacher. He was absent the whole of last week. He was a great man. He loved music.”

Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane said an inquest docket was opened. A post-mortem would be conducted to determine the cause of death.
